Official Opening of the Jubilee Nature Garden
Following the generosity of many local individuals and organisations there will be an Official Opening of Farnham Common Junior School's Jubilee Nature Garden on Bank Holiday Monday - 4 JUNE - at 12.30 pm.
Johnny BALL will be performing the opening ceremony and Villagers are invited to attend.
If you cannot make this event, however, you are invited to pop along at any time and see the garden.

Fatal Accident for Motorcyclist
A 25 year old man from Hounslow was killed on Saturday, 14 April, when his black Honda CB motorcycle collided with a tree when it left the A 355 road travelling from Beaconsfield towards Slough.

Spate of 'Eggings' in Farnham Common
The Police have reported a spate of early evening 'eggings', in which youths has been seen throwing eggs at private properties in the Village. Police Officers are aware of 10 homes that have been targeted.
Any sightings should be reported to the Police non-emergency number - 101.

Local Mum wins Star Mum Award
Aksa Marshal, from Farnham Common has won the Star Mum Award, having been nominated by her 23 year old daughter - Asa - who suffers from cerebral palsy. The competition was organised by Slough Community Leisure (SCL) and 'Slough Express'.
Aksa has lived in Farnham Common, for 11 years, with her husband Shahzad and her two daughters Asa and Ana.
The 49 year old Mother used to be a primary school teacher at Goldolphin but gave up her career to care for her daughter now working as an exercise instructor and health activist.
Rob Whitehouse, chief executive of SCL said 'Aksa's nomination really stood out and we could not have found a better candidate to take on the Star Mum title'.

Farnham Royal couple held captive as burglars ransack home
A 77 year old man and his wife, 55, were held captive for an hour and a half as 3 hooded men with crowbars ransacked their home in Stoke Park Avenue last Saturday, (17 March). The burglars broke in as the couple were watching TV, at 9.15 pm, and made off with their car and a safe. The red Lexus was found abandoned in Wexham.
Thames Valley Police said that the men - aged between 20 and 30 - who spoke with Eastern European accents, had been wearing balaclavas or scarves to cover their faces, and woollen or rubber gloves. Detectives are linking the incident with another aggravated burglary on the Tuesday before in Colllinswood Road in Farnham Common.

Dair House School pupils sing at the O2
37 pupils from years 3 to 6 at Dair House School in Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Royal, took part in the Young Voices concert held at the 02 in London on 8 March.
The pupils performed with 6,000 other youngsters as part of the Children's Choir, singing alongside artists including the Irish folk band the High Kings, and Britain's Got Talent's Connie Talbot.
The choir had been rehearsing since September for this concert.

Death Crash Driver Guilty
Paul Luker, of Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Royal, was found guilty of causing death by careless driving, when his van collided with Group Captain Tom Barrett, a Beaconsfield father of two, who was cycling along the A 40 on his way home from work.
Paul Luker told Harrow Crown Court that he was 'blinded by the sun' when he hit Group Captain Tom Barrett in March 2011.
He maintained that he was driving at 50 mph, under the speed limit, but he admitted that he was short sighted, claiming that he was struggling to see the brake lights of a vehicle in front of him.
Mr Luker will be sentenced when he returns to court on 26 March.

Web Wizadry Award for Farnham Common Grandmother
Brenda O'Mulloy who lives in Farnham Common was named a joint internet champion at a recent Age UK awards ceremony in London.
Brenda received the award from actress June Whitfield, and as an Age UK champion she will work with the charity over the coming year to help show the 5.7million people over 65 who have never used the internet, just how it can transform their lives. ....
Fire at Farnham Royal Playground
The fire at this playground in Beaconsfield Road, on Thursday, 9 February, was put out by a Fire Crew from Gerrards Cross and is suspected to have been arson.
.... The Farnhams Society urgently seeks 'new blood'
The Farnhams Society, which was set up in 1977 to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee is now - in this Golden Jubilee Year - urgently seeking 'new blood' to augment the Management Committee.
The future of the Society is in jeopardy if new Members do not come forward, as Membership has been in sharp decline in recent years, although the events, theatre trips and walks organised by the Society remain extremely popular.

MISSING CAT
An appeal is launched to find a missing ginger tabby cat -
* He is about a year and a half old. * He has a red collar with cat paws on it as well as a little bell.
* He is very skittish but is altogether very friendly. * He loves his food. * He responds to "Ginge" or "gingey-face" (don't ask !!) as a rule. * He is neutered. * He has no chip. * The only other indentifiable feature he has is that he has a small lump on his belly towards his back legs.He was seen last on 2 February around the Farnham Common area.

Armed Robbers hit Londis in Farnham Royal
On Sunday - 15 January - two armed robbers entered the Londis store at Farnham Royal, threatening the 2 shopworkers with handguns.
They demanded the till be opened, but the 45 year old shop worker refused, and one of the robbers then punched him in the head with a gun.
He was then dragged behind the shop's counter while the 2nd robber filled a bag with bottles of alcohol. The injured shop worker suffered a cut to his chest and bruising and abrasions to the back of his head.
One of the men was white and the other black, but both of a large build, wearing hoods and scarves over their faces.

Local Businessman funds Cataract Operations
Ram Bedi of Temple Way, Farnham Common, has - for the past decade - been raising cash worldwide which has helped 2,000 people regain their sight.
Ram was born in Rawalpindi in 1933, and moved to Ulster in 1959, to join his brother in the retail fashion business, working a 15 hour day.
He moved to Slough in 1976, setting up a business first on the Slough Trading Estate, and later in Windsor.
He is currently in India, where a local Rotary Club in the area distributes leaflets to Villagers, announcing the lens provision. When the word is spread, about 1,000 badly sighted and blind people turns up for the tests.

Farnham Royal Rugby Club celebrates 50th Anniversary
This year, 2012, will see the 50th anniversary of Farnham Royal Rugby Club. Founded in 1962 as Penannanians Rugby Union Club, the Club now plays in the Bucks and Oxon South One League and is based in Farnham Park, where it has two pitches and a floodlit training area.

South Bucks District Council invited expressions of interest to develop the southernmost part of the Farnham Park Sports Field for sport and recreation, and after considering a number of bids, the Council is proposing to proceed with Baseball and Softball UK (BSUK) as its preferred partner for the development of the land in Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Royal.
Proposals are to create 4 permanent baseball and softball pitches, backed by funding from Sport England.

GBH Charge
A 27 year old man has been charged with GBH (grievous bodily harm) after a man was stabbed in Farnham Royal on Saturday, 26 NOVEMBER.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 pm in Birch Grove, leaving a 26 year old man with knife wounds to his hand and abdomen.
Jasvir GILL of Birch Grove, appeared before Slough Magistrates Court, and has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on 8 March.
