Free Fruit Grafting Course
The Farnham Common Community Orchard is organising a free fruit grafting course on Sunday, 5 February.

Armed Robbers hit Londis in Farnham Royal
Last Sunday - 15 January - two armed robbers entered the Londis store at Farnham Royal, threatening the 2 shopworkers with handguns.
They demanded the till be opened, but the 45 year old shop worker refused, and one of the robbers then punched him in the head with a gun.
He was then dragged behind the shop's counter while the 2nd robber filled a bag with bottles of alcohol. The injured shop worker suffered a cut to his chest and bruising and abrasions to the back of his head.
One of the men was white and the other black, but both of a large build, wearing hoods and scarves over their faces.

Local Businessman funds Cataract Operations
Ram Bedi of Temple Way, Farnham Common, has - for the past decade - been raising cash worldwide which has helped 2,000 people regain their sight.
Ram was born in Rawalpindi in 1933, and moved to Ulster in 1959, to join his brother in the retail fashion business, working a 15 hour day.
He moved to Slough in 1976, setting up a business first on the Slough Trading Estate, and later in Windsor.
He is currently in India, where a local Rotary Club in the area distributes leaflets to Villagers, announcing the lens provision. When the word is spread, about 1,000 badly sighted and blind people turns up for the tests.

Farnham Royal Pensioner leads the way as an Internet Champion
Farnham Royal's Brenda O'Mulloy (82) has been shortlisted in the search for the Age UK Internet Champion for 2012.
Brenda is an internet enthusiast using a wide range of services, including Skype and Facebook, and she became a keen internet user when, after the loss of her husband, her son bought her a laptop.
The Age UK Internet Champion will act as a leading light to the 5.7 million people over 65 who have never used the internet.
The Awards Ceremony, when the UK Champion will be announced, will take place in London in January.

Farnham Royal Rugby Club celebrates 50th Anniversary
Next year, 2012, will see the 50th anniversary of Farnham Royal Rugby Club. Founded in 1962 as Penannanians Rugby Union Club, the Club now plays in the Bucks and Oxon South One League and is based in Farnham Park, where it has two pitches and a floodlit training area.

White Ribbons, the first shop of Berkshire East and South Bucks Women's Aid, opened on Friday, 9 December.

Motorists parking in South Bucks District Council-owned car parks, now have a quicker and more convenient way to pay for parking - by mobile phone, using their debit or credit card. The cashless payment system ‘Parkmobile’ went live last week across the District.

..... Development at Farnham Park Sports Fields
South Bucks District Council invited expressions of interest to develop the southernmost part of the Farnham Park Sports Field for sport and recreation, and after considering a number of bids, the Council is proposing to proceed with Baseball and Softball UK (BSUK) as its preferred partner for the development of the land in Beaconsfield Road, Farnham Royal.
Proposals are to create 4 permanent baseball and softball pitches, backed by funding from Sport England.

GBH Charge
A 27 year old man has been charged with GBH (grievous bodily harm) after a man was stabbed in Farnham Royal on Saturday, 26 NOVEMBER.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 pm in Birch Grove, leaving a 26 year old man with knife wounds to his hand and abdomen.
Jasvir GILL of Birch Grove, appeared before Slough Magistrates Court, and has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on 8 March.
